Tots to Travel: Packing List & Essentials for Young Children

Packing for a trip with babies or toddlers is less about bringing everything and more about bringing the right things — and knowing what you don’t actually need to carry.
One of the most important things to check before travelling is your airline’s policy on baby equipment. Many airlines allow you to bring a pushchair and car seat free of charge, which can make a huge difference when navigating airports and transfers. Bringing a lightweight pushchair is often worth it, especially for larger resorts or destinations where you’ll be walking more than expected.
A simple but useful tip is to pack a dedicated bag for essentials like nappies, wipes, and powdered milk. Keeping these items separate - especially in a carry-on or under-seat bag — makes them easy to access during the journey and ensures you’re not caught out if checked luggage is delayed. It also helps manage weight distribution across your luggage more efficiently.
It’s also worth thinking practically about what you can buy on arrival. In many destinations, nappies, baby food, and other essentials are widely available, so you don’t necessarily need to pack large quantities. This can save both space and weight, making travel much easier.
Travelling with young children always comes with extra logistics, but a well-thought-out packing approach can make the entire experience feel far more manageable. The goal is to stay organised, travel lighter where possible, and focus on the items that will actually make your trip easier day-to-day.
